Exercising At Home
You don't need to join a gym to get in shape. Here are some tips that will help you stay in shape while at home!
What To Do First?
First you need to sit down and determine what your exercise goals are. Determine what you want to accomplish in a realistic manner. Then get a notebook so you can keep track of your exercise routine and to map out progress. While you may be excited to start your new exercise routine, make sure to start off gradually so your body can adapt and recover faster and easier.
Types Of Exercises To Choose From
Here are a few exercises you can choose from to do at at home:
- Walking: Walking is a great exercise that is often overlook. You can do it whenever you have free time and all you need is a good pair of comfortable shoes. For beginners, we would recommend to start off with a 10 minute walk. Then as you get more comfortable you can start to extend the time and distance of your walking. You can also swing your arms while you walk to get an additional upper body workout.
- Swimming: For those who have a pool, swimming is a great workout. Not only do you get to swim around in a pool, you also get a complete body workout. For beginners, we would recommend a gentle 15 minute swim at your own pace. Then gradually start to build up the length of your swim and the intensity. Remember to always have a swim buddy or make sure someone is nearby for safety reasons.
- Jogging: Jogging is a step-up from the walking exercise. Those who are looking for a more active and yet flexible workout - jogging is the perfect exercise. Just like walking, start off slowly and gradually increase the length and intensity of your jog.
- Aerobics Instead of spending time in a gym room with lots of strangers, you can now do aerobics in your own home. All you need is a video (there are many to choose from so take your time in picking one that you like) and you can workout in your own comfortable home.
- Dancing: An overlook workout is dancing! Just turn on your radio and dance to the music. Not only do you get a great body workout but you also get a really good cardio workout.
